Program Descriptions

 

  

Alivio Medical Center

Alivio/Finkl Supportive Services  - 

  • Individual and family counseling

  • Parenting skills classes

  • Referral services

  • After school hours and Saturdays

Services provided at:  Alivio Medical Center, Finkl Academy

Target population:  Children and their  families who are enrolled at Finkl Academy 

                                Elementary School

  

Lutheran Child & Family Services of Illinois

Parent Support Program services provided:

  • Parent support sessions by school social worker and community outreach worker

  • Home visits by school social worker and community outreach worker

  • Information and referral counseling by a community outreach worker

  • After school tutoring for 3rd and 6th grade students at Eli Whitney Elementary School (CPS)

Services provided at:  Eli Whitney Elementary School, Hispanic Outreach office  of LCFS of Illinois, and client's home.

Target Population:  Families whose children are not achieving at grade level

  

Lutheran Child &  Family Services of Illinois

"For the Wellbeing of our Children" services provided:  

  • Information meetings about adoption held in the community, as well as the Hispanic Outreach Center  of LCFS

  • Bilingual recruitment materials

  • Toll-free recruitment phone number, 24 hour access, with bilingual response

  • PRIDE Training to recruited parents

  • Licensing provided to recruited and trained parents

Services provided at:  Community locations; including Latino Youth, Inc. the Hispanic Outreach Center of LCFS, libraries, and other locations, LCFS River Forest office, and homes of prospective adoptive parents.

Target population:  Children of Hispanic heritage in need of adoptive homes

  

Mujeres Latinas en Accion

Parent support Program services provided:

  • Intake assessments

  • Referrals to Mujere's or external services

  • Parenting classes in Spanish

  • Therapeutic open-ended parent support groups

  • Individual counseling

Objectives of all programs relate to the reduction of child abuse and neglect by educating parents and guardians about non-violent methods of discipline, enhancing parenting skills and reducing isolation especially among immigrant parents.  Parenting classes run 15 weeks and parents must attend 90% of the classes to obtain a certificate of completion.  Transportation and childcare is provided on an as needed basis.

 

Services provided at:  Mujeres Latinal en Accion offices

Target population:  Latino parents or a guardian of children ages 5-17 years

  

Our Lady of Tepayac

  • Parenting skills classes

  • Referral Services

  • Community forums on Local resources

Services provided at:  Telpochcalli, Spry, Hammond, Rosario Castellanos, and Latino Youth

Target Population:  Culturally isolated children and their families

  

Pilsen YMCA

Pilsen  YMCA LAN's Family Nights Program - The Pilsen YMCA brings family workshops addressing the quality time with each other, cultural field trips, family/individual counseling as well as recreational/physical activities.  We are adding an adult learning component where parents can develop the English language and computer skills, The importance for families to feel self empowered and able to assist their children with the scholastic task from school.

 

Services provided at:  Pilsen YMCA

Target population:  Culturally challenged families with children of all ages.
