LAN 6 Steering Committee Meeting

May 10, 2000


The Child and Adolescent Local Area Network (6) Steering Committee met May 10, 2000.  The meeting was called to order by Bill Kreeb, LANs Co-Convener around 10:05am.  The meeting was held at Comprehensive Mental Health Center, 1919 State Street in East St. Louis, IL .

Members present: Bill Kreeb, Denita Jacox, Shirley Reid, Tom Kircher, Kathy Evansco, Eric Slover, Cheryle Chaney, Rodney Jones, Marcus Lee, Winifred Leake, Desarie Holmes, Charleszetta Coley, Pamela Kirkwood, Stanford Scott, Dennis Harbison, Anthony Jenkins, Karashia Tabbs, Erin Arras, Jacky Johnson, Vera Robinson, Angela Sumling.

The meeting was opened with introductions of committee members and the agencies they represent.  The minutes were approved by consensus.

Rodney Jones provided the Homeless Youth Report.

Denita Jacox provided the Wraparound and Quality Assurance Report.  A copy of the Quality Assurance report will be forwarded to Susie Redmond at the DCFS office.

Dennis Harbison and Tom Kircher informed the committee of their need for mentors for wraparound plans.

Bill Kreeb encouraged the Steering Committee agencies to participate in the Mentor Training Program provided by Lt. Slover with the Lincoln Challenge program.

A flyer will be distributed with the next minutes for individuals to sign up for the Mentor training.

Tom Kircher provided an overview of the Family Centered Services Technical Assistance workshop held at Rend Lake.  A Planning Committee is to convene in June.  Each LAN will receive a 10% increase next year.

Desarie Holmes shared a parent with CHASI.  The parent attended the meeting and enjoyed it.

Vera Robinson gave the Marketing Committee report.  Tom Kircher submitted to the committee LAN information that will be utilized for marketing purposes  and submitted to area newspapers.  The committee by consensus approved the content of the information.

Denita Jacox reported on the Website Committee meeting.  Also, provided were packets of information that was reviewed and approved by the committee to be included on the web page as well as a glossary of terms and linkages.

Jacky Johnson (Club Buddies) reported on the need for a community service project for a specific neighborhood and/or family.  The project has to be completed by August 2000.  One thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00) is available with no income restrictions.  Lt. Maurice Dunn (256-7716) is the contact person.

Lt. Slover offered the Armory Building as a future meeting place for the LAN Steering Committee due to CMHC moving to a new location.  The committee accepted the offer and the information pertaining to the location will be included in the next minutes.

Tom Kircher reviewed a letter from Judge Radcliffe from St. Clair County Courts requesting to meet with LAN 6 Steering Committee on Tuesday, June 13, 2000.
