LAN 6 Steering Committee Meeting

April 11, 2001

The Child and Adolescent Local Area Network (6) Steering Committee met April 11, 2001.  The meeting was called to order by Bill Kreeb, LAN Co-Convener around 10:05am.  The meeting was held at Comprehensive Mental Health Center,  907 Martin Luther King Drive, Suite C in East St. Louis.

Members present: Emma Rose, Rick Rockwell, Bennie Price, Gwen Howard, Shirley Reid, Deborah Storman, Cathy Houston, Bessie Enlow, Kathy Westley, Marcus Lee, Rodney Jones, Peg Maher, Winifred Leake, Tracey Huey, Bessie Peabody, Pamela Kirkwood, Bill Kreeb, Denita Jacox, Brooke Ann Portz, Harriet Woody, Jacky Johnson.

The meeting was opened with introductions of committee members and the agencies they represent.  The minutes were approved with noted corrections by Kathy Westley.

Rodney Jones provided the Homeless Youth Report.

Denita Jacox provided the Wraparound Report.  Eight (8) active Flex Wraparound Plan and three (3) Flex Referrals in the Wraparound development stage.

Family Centered Services reports handed out and important details shared as needed.

Discussion regarding the Mentoring proposal for School District 189.  Stanford Scott's committee reportedly has met three times.  The Committee members include: Kathy Westley, Rev. Rex Waddell, Dr. Karen Cason, Dwight Rattler, and Mr. Scott.  The proposal will be submitted to the LAN Steering Committee for approval.  Shirley Reid will contact Dr. Nathaniel Anderson regarding our present position with the proposal.

Jacky Johnson clarified information on the Club Buddies program at Jackie Joyner Kersee.

Pamela Kirkwood and Peg Maher (Central Baptist) provided an update on the development of the Visitation Center. They are currently seeking a location to house the facility.  Anyone with location information may contact Pamela at (618) 345-9644.

Denita Jacox handed out a report on the Program Evaluation Training held in Chicago, IL on March 23, 2001.  Kathy Westley shared attending the Program Evaluation  Training and provided information on the event.

Bessie Enlow handed out the "Care Enough to Call" pamphlet to report child abuse and neglect.  Tracey Hug shared information on The Prevention Resource Development Project.

The next LAN meeting will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2001.  The meeting is adjourned.
