LAN 6 Steering Committee Meeting February 14, 2001 The
Child and Adolescent Local Area Network (6) Steering Committee met Wednesday,
February 14, 2001. The meeting was
called to order by Amelia Glover, LAN Co-Convener around 10:05am.
The meeting was held at Comprehensive Mental Health Center, 907 Martin Luther King Drive,
Suite C in East St.
Louis. Members present: Desarie Holmes, Winifred Leake, Dennis Harbison, Debbie Bridgeforth, Percy Harris, Ann Williams, Denita Jacox, Jacky Johnson, Vera Robinson, Amelia Glover, Bill Kreeb, Karen Tilashalski, Debbie Humphrey, Tom Kircher, Shirley Reid, Rodney Jones, Marcus Lee, Harriet Woody, Kathy Evansco, Obo Offiong, Stanford Scott The meeting was opened with introductions of committee members and the agencies they represent. The minutes were approved by Vera Robinson and seconded with a noted correction. Rodney
Jones provided the Homeless Youth Report. Denita Jacox provided the Wraparound Report. Wraparound referrals for (3) DCFS cases were reviewed for team resources. A flex referral was approved for Wraparound services. A flex Wraparound plan was reviewed for approval. The committee requested the child and family team meet again to review the plan to focus more on normalization for the child, in relation to the services and individuals involved, and to explore further utilization of local resources. Tom Kircher provided a presentation on Foster/Adoptive Care Coalition. Brochures were provided to the committee members. If anyone is interested in a training on Foster and Adoptive Care, please phone 1-800-FOSTER 3. Family Centered Services reports were provided. Planning committee meeting is scheduled immediately after Steering Committee meeting. Denita Jacox provided an oral and written report on the Ad Hoc Committee Meeting hold January 23, 2001at DCFS in Belleville. The next meeting will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2001 (10:30am) at the same location. Bill Kreeb and Amelia Glover will draft a letter to the East St. Louis Police Department concerning a representative for the SHOCAP meeting. Debbie Humphrey reported several FCS providers are submitting their reports on time and, as a result, reports are being submitted to Springfield late. Debbie shared that St. Clair County Mental Health Board will resign as Fiscal Agent for LAN 6 as of September 30, 2001. Debbie Bridgeforth wants to know as soon as possible what agency will be assuming the Fiscal Agent role. Bill Kreeb has offered to work with Debbie Humphries on developing a job description or a criteria for the position that will be provided to all interested parties. The proposal for the Mentoring program for School District 189 will be tabled until the next meeting. Vera Robinson and Denita Jacox will submit the orders approved by the Marketing Committee. The next LAN Steering Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2001. The meeting was adjourned.
