Call to Order and Introductions: Meeting called to order by Ron Melka at 9:07am
Minutes: The minutes for the January meeting were approved with one correction. Under DCFS issues, 2nd paragraph, the web page address for our LAN website is www.systemofcareillinois.com. Chris moved to accept the minutes as corrected. Dave seconded. The motion passed.
DCFS Issues: Dan reported that there have been no substantive changes at DCFS. There are still many open positions. Negotiations with the union continue and the new structure will not completely be in place until that is settled. The plan is that there will be two regions in Cook (instead of three) with LAN 58 in the South region.
Cheryle Kennelly discussed the LAN Website procedures. All LAN's are listed. We can update that website with our monthly minutes and agendas, as well as other items. She asked for resource directories from our LAN. Jen was contacted by DCFS directly and two are coming.
School Issues: Elaine stated that the meeting to develop a letter about working with kids in the hospital regarding discharge planning could not happen this month. Ron Melka, Alma Tempel and Ruth Mendel will meet with Elaine at 8:30am immediately before the next LAN meeting.
Helen Stewart Nava reported that they are working hard to maintain the Safe School program and find future funding. If the Safe School grant has not found additional funding, it will end this June.
Parent Report: No report.
Family Centered Services Planning Committee Report: We have received our quarterly report forms. Due to the delay, the first report is not due in to DCFS until February 28. The subcontracted agencies have to get their forms into Youth In Crisis by Feb. 26 for Ron so he can compile the LAN combined report.
Clinical Committee Report & Wraparound Flexible Funding Committee: Jennifer Garfield distributed the Flexible Funding request form for summer programs. They are due back to her by March 14, 2003. She has not heard a response on LAN 58's request for additional LAN funding. She still has $17,600 to distribute for this fiscal year.
Jen has reported that there is one presentation today.
Additional Items from Participants: Maureen reported that there is a free tax service available through the Town of Cicero for people who make $35,000 or less. She distributed flyers listing the dates that this is available. Her number is (708) 656-3600 x478.
Jennifer announced that CCO has an Adolescent Girls Group on Thursdays at 5:00pm. It currently has openings for new clients. Her number is (708) 383-7277.
Michelle encouraged everyone to conduct activities during Child Abuse Prevention Month, which is in April. She will give assistance to any group that wants to develop something. She also wants to know what activities are being planned. Her number is (773) 636-1070.
