The Adoptive Family Support Program through Central Baptist Family Services is funded through a Family Centered Services grant. The program targets families who are not in significant crisis; who need a brief rest from their caretaker role; and who need minimal services to enable the family to maintain a rewarding relationship with their adopted child.

The AFSP is available to any adoptive family with at least one adoptee under the age of 18 years old in Clark, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie and Shelby Counties (LAN #14).

The Adoptee Family Support Program can provide the following free of cost:

  • Time-limited respite during the daytime or overtime

  • Community service linkage

  • Emotional support/counseling

  • Education (individual or group)

  • Mentoring for adolescents

AFSP involvement is voluntary and can be accessed through either self-referral or outside referral, such as by clergy, counselor, relative, friend, etc.

To make a referral, please call 345-6554 during normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Emergency Respite can be accessed on a case-by-case basis.
