LAN 12 - Committees
Planning Committee
Most of the LAN's funding comes in the form of annual grant from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). This committee does the initial planning, grant application, and implementation of services agreed to the grant.
Steering Committee
The LAN is composed of professionals and citizens who want to improve the social services to the youth of Madison County. It is the governing body for the LAN and must approve all decisions made by the subcommittees. Anyone may attend the Steering Committee but only those persons who are actively involved in one of the subcommittees are eligible to vote.
Screening Committee
The Screening Committee, often referred to as the Wraparound Committee, decides which youth are most appropriate for wraparound and which would be most appropriate for traditional social services. Wraparound is designed to serve the most difficult children in the community, which do not seem to benefit from traditional services. It approves wraparound budgets and provides technical assistance to wrap facilitators.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is composed of the two Co-Conveners and chairpersons from each of the other committees. It is primarily responsible for putting together an agenda for the full Screening Committee. Under certain circumstances, the executive committee may make emergency decisions that cannot wait until the full Steering Committee meets. It is also empowered to make certain personnel decisions.
Respite Committee
The Respite Committee oversees the Respite Care Services. The committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss new cases and development of additional resources for the service.
Parenting Resource Committee
This is a relatively new committee. It was created to provide parents and/or primary caregivers, who are unable to attend the LAN Planning Committee because of outside commitments or obligations, an opportunity to share concerns, issues, or positive feedback regarding the current funded services of LAN 12 and help identify gaps in available services and programs or lack thereof. This committee reports to the Planning Committee.
Marketing Committee
This group is responsible for advertising the LAN and Wrap. It publishes a quarterly newsletter, which tries to educate LAN member agencies and the general public.
Family Resource Alliance
The Alliance was created to work out any service delivery issues among the 32 social service agencies within the county that have pledged to provide services to all consumers who call the Family Resource Service. The Service has been so successful that this committee has changed its focus to become more of a think tank to find innovative ways to provide services to clients.
Families-In-Crisis Task Force
The greatest number of complaints heard by the Resource Service staff is the lack of services to deal with parent/child problems. While there are already numerous crisis services within Madison County, all of them are targeted to deal with special populations and therefore do not meet the needs of many families. This committee has been working with existing agencies to see what can be done to improve the situation. The committee also provides case consultation for difficult cases in which a case is brought before the group in order to brainstorm to locate additional resources available.
