Our Mission

   

To plan and develop a full array of community-based services to assist children and families to develop in healthy ways.

  

Our Goals and Action Steps

  

1.   To increase the availability and accessibility of services.

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan

  • Recruit and train community representatives

  • Identify and prioritize gaps in services

  • Utilize a systematic broadcast of information

  • Pursue additional funding

 

2.   To encourage the development and development of supervised youth activities.

  • Develop a new campaign for group activities for the Family Resource Service

  • Determine what kinds of services and activities are wanted

  • Coordinate planning with agencies

  • Explore all opportunities available

   

Our Process

  

As with many organizations, a great deal of the work of the Child and Adolescent Local Area Networks takes place in committees. The committees usually meet once or twice a month. The full group comes together the first Tuesday of each month to plan larger initiatives and to share progress reports. Objectives to reach the organizations goals have been divided up into committees as follows.

     

     

STEERING COMMITTEES

Candy Lumetta and Kim Chasteen - Co-Convenors

        

Goal 1: Increase Availability & Accessibility of Services

  • Recruit and train community representatives outside of social services to help get information to families. This involves developing an action plan and a curriculum.

Goal 2: Encourage Development of Youth Activities

  • To coordinate efforts with area agencies and organizations, especially those already providing activities

Ongoing Goals:

  1. Promote a comfortable environment for collaboration

  2. Appoint and encourage group leadership. (All committees need active chairs.)

     

  

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

(Consists of chairs of all committees, FCS Coordinator, DCFS, ISBE & IFF  Liaisons)

Goal 2: Encourage Development of Youth Activities

  • Explore all the opportunities currently available. Some suggestions have been to list all summer camp opportunities with the Family Resource Alliance. List all parenting classes on the LAN website or as an addendum to the minutes.

COMMUNITY PLANNING COMMITTEE

(Subcommittee: Respite . FCS Projects: Family Resource Service, Respite, Community Collaborations, Newborn Packets)

  • Identify and prioritize gaps in services (with parent resource committee).

Goal 2: Encourage Development of Youth Activities

  • Develop a new campaign for group activities through the Family Resource Service

   A. Oversight of $200,000 FCS Funding

  

   

WRAP SCREENING COMMITTEE

Goal 1: Increase Availability & Accessibility of Services

  • Identify and prioritize gaps in services

Ongoing Goals:

  1. Oversight of $35,000(?) Wrap Flex Funding

  2. Maintain regular Wrap Service application, screening, and facilitation process

  

  

PARENTING RESOURCE COMMITTEE

  • Identify and prioritize gaps in services (with Planning Committees)

Goal 2: Encourage Development of Youth Activities

  • Determine what kind services and activities are most wanted and needed.

Ongoing Goals:

  1. Providing feedback on what services parents wand and need.

    

  

MARKETING COMMITTEES

Goal 1: Increase Availability & Accessibility of Services

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan

  • Utilize a systematic broadcast of information (e.g. newsletter)

Ongoing Goals:

  1. Recruiting new members and making them feel welcome.

  2. Encouraging communications between members.

  3. Informing the community about what LAN 12 is doing.
